Harvest Dinner raises almost $30,000 for LDH

July 12, 2015

Lillooet’s generosity was on display Saturday night when the Lillooet Hospital Foundation’s 20th Annual Harvest Dinner raised $29,280.31, topping the $27,000 raised at last year’s event.

The dinner and auction sold out early this year, as attendees filled the lounge at the curling rink to enjoy the dinner prepared in a day-long cooking marathon by Foundation members, laugh at the entertainment provided by “nurses” with strategically placed bedpans and bid on a variety of auction items.

Hospital Foundation helps fight against colon cancer

June 21, 2006

A large donation from the Lillooet District Hospital Foundation is helping the Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre in the fight against colorectal cancer.

The foundation has given the hospital $27,900 to help pay for a colonoscope, a machine used for the early detection of colorectal cancer. About two-thirds of that money was donated to the foundation in memory of Brian Grossler. Kathy Grossler feels that Brian would be happy knowing there's a local screening process in place for colon cancer.

With the addition of the colonoscope, nearly the entire bowel can be screened for cancer here in Lillooet. The hospital already owns a gastroscope.
